ETSU Reece Museum

Pursuant to retaining accreditation by the American Association of Museums, the renovation to the Reece Museum targeted improving the performance of the building as an archival and display space. Therefore, much of the scope is mechanical or electrical in nature. However, there are architectural improvements, and all effort has been taken to ensure that the historical nature of the building and the campus context are preserved.

Project Notes:

In order to address energy efficiency and improve the building envelope, all original windows and doors are replaced with double insulated units with UV reflecting glazing to match historic profiles. To improve accessibility and mobility between floors, an electric traction elevator is provided. Other improvements include new ceilings throughout, finishes and an accessible restroom.
