Alcoa Centennial Park

Alcoa, Tennessee

Marking the centennial of both Alcoa the community, and ALCOA the company, the Alcoa Centennial Park is a series of improvements to Springbrook Park intended to build on the legacy of the people who have made the town and the company what they are today. Primarily utilizing local materials, the project seeks to foster engagement, creating outdoor civic spaces for the whole community. To that end, the park consists of an outdoor amphitheater, picnic grove, public plaza, viewing terrace, childrens splashpad, interconnected walking paths and a series of multi-use piers around the pond. Each component is designed to give the user a unique experience both of the park, and of the community. With varied scales and levels of intimacy, there are areas within the park suited to everything from school plays, to first dates, community wide celebrations to private moments.
